其中最有名的是1988年由艾洛·莫里斯（Errol Morris）执导的纪录片，一般被翻译为《正义难伸》：

片子的主题是一起杀人犯罪案，一名警察在执行公务时被打死了。到底是谁打死了警察？本片的创作者以一种独立身份介入了司法调查，介入了对这个犯罪案件的调查。对于这个案子，警察局官方已经得出了结论，并且抓到了嫌疑人。但导演在介入这个事件后，发现问题并不是警察所说的那样，所以他就找了很多曾被警察找过的证人，他们均从不同的角度口述所见，这些都用真实再现的方法展现出来。你会发现这些人的口述和现场的真实再现有差别，彼此之间也有差别。而真实再现本身是作为一个揭示，揭示证人的口述和真实情况之间到底是否真实。所以同样一个枪杀的场景，进行着不同角度的真实再现。最终的目的是要找到证据：到底谁是真正的凶手。而它的演示和警察局的演示，角度是不一样的。最后导演成功地用一段录音采访暗示我们，他找到了真正的杀人犯。由于这个片子的成功，原来被判为杀人犯的流浪汉嫌疑人被翻了案。这里真实再现的运用，就不是简单的把一个我们知道的历史事实演示出来，仅仅是为了画面好看，而是把“真实再现”的手法本身变成片子探索真相的途径，变成了片子的结构。
